Web accelerators (NodeJS, Varnish and Memcached) added to the NTC Hosting Control Panel

We have added a new set of advanced controls to the NTC Hosting Control Panel. The so called web accelerators – NodeJS, Varnish and Memcached are aimed at scaling up the backend performance of your sites.

NodeJS –  built on Chrome’s JavaScript runtime for building fast network applications. It uses an event-driven I/O model that makes it perfect for data-intensive real-time applications running across distributed devices.

Memcached – a high-performance, distributed memory object caching system intended for speeding up dynamic web applications by decreasing database load. Memcached comes with 16 MB, more memory is available as an upgrade.

Varnish – a web application accelerator also known as a caching HTTP reverse proxy. It speeds up delivery with a factor of 300 – 1000x, depending on your architecture. Varnish Cache offers a flexible configuration language, VCL, which enables you to write policies on how incoming requests should be handled. Varnish comes with 16 MB, more is available as an upgrade.

These web acceearators can be found in the Advanced section of the NTC Hosting Control Panel.

They are available as upgrade services, accessible from the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. To order Varnish or Memcached, you will also need to specify the necessary memory quotas.

The web accelerators are available with all dedicated servers by default, where each can use up to 3, 7 or 15 GB of RAM. We are also working on integrating the tools to our line of virtual private servers.
