Geo-targeting now in place! A GeoIP functionality added to the Control Panel.
We have added a new feature to the Web Hosting Control Panel – GeoIP.
You can now redirect your website visitors to a different page, subdomain, or even to a different website according to the visitor’s geographical location (continent, country, city, etc.).
For example, let’s say you have a website best-bike-buys.co.uk, which lists hot bike offers for the UK market, as the domain extension suggests.
If you want to launch a new website, which will list bike offers to the German market in particular, the best thing you can do is to send visitors from Germany directly to a new domain – best-bike-buys.de.
This is where the newly added GeoIP functionality comes in use. You simply need to add a new A or CNAME DNS record for your existing domain, in your case – best-bike-buys.co.uk, and point it to the new website – best-bike-buys.de.
Then, simply tick the ‘Enable GeoIP’ option and select ‘Germany’ as the country from where the visitors will be redirected to the new site.
Once the DNS update takes place, all visitors from Germany will see the best-bike-buys.de website, while the rest of the world will keep seeing the original best-bike-buys.co.uk website.
We believe this new functionality will further contribute to the increasing flexibility of our web hosting service.
