Another set of ccTLD-focused articles added to the NTC Hosting Encyclopedia

Today we added another set of ccTLD-related articles to the expanding database of our recently launched online encyclopedia. With this new set addition we are now presenting to your attention detailed profiles of some of the most preferred country-code TLDs on the Internet such as .DE, .ME and .CC, as well as of top-level domains that are yet to gain regional/ global popularity – .IN, .TV and .EU.

It is curious to know that the registration choice of most of the country-code domain extensions mentioned above is largely driven by their ‘catchy sound’ i.e. although the domains are officially assigned to countries they are registered by residents from around the world who somehow identify their web presence with the syntax of the particular domain extension. For instance, the Montenegro domain extension.me has such an appetizing syntax for the English-speaking users that it has become one of the most desired domain top-level domains on the WWW recently.

Another interesting example is the Cocos islands domain extension.cc, which registrants find professional-looking and easy-to-remember and most importantly – it is considered as a perfect multi-abbreviation match and suitable for serving online presented commercial companies, church communities, consulting companies, community centers, etc.

Similar is the case with the Germany domain extension.de, which is chosen by many Spanish-speaking registrants due to its Spanish translation (‘de’ means ‘of’ in Spanish) despite the German details requirements imposed by the .DE registry. The India domain extension.in, is also widely popular mainly due to the meaning of ‘in’ in English. A very good example is the Tuvalu domain extension.tv, the name of which coincides with the abbreviation of the word ‘television’ and is currently widely used by rich media content websites.

Just one of the country-code TLD pages we published today in our NTC Hosting encyclopedia is dedicated to a ‘strictly’ local TLD – the European Union domain extension.eu, all registrants of which are required to reside within the EU.

Well, that’s it for today. We have to now concentrate on the next TLD chapter of our knowledge base, scheduled for publication later this week.
